Harpur brings the broad theological perspective of prayer to the personal level by exploring the deep yearning that calls one to prayer. She is your balance in this life. She and I read some of the same stuff, but not always, so I was like okay. I know that they're after old books full of big secrets, but not what those big secrets are, or why they're important. Well, here with had Carwyn, Gio's kinda kickass bff. However, I was in the mood for some Urban Fantasy, and I'd already downloaded the book Me being a gigantic fan of Elizabeth Hunter's , it was really just a matter of time until I started reading another of her series.
By the description given, I thought this was going to be more of a DaVinci Code type of novel. The story moves along nicely. Ad nauseam I am impressed I finished this book. You will not be disappointed! I found this gem and was hooked from the first page onwards. As Giovanni becomes more and more attached to Beatrice and vice versa , he is committed to her safety in an unsafe world.
Still love mysterious men and old books. It doesn't boil; it simmers. All that being said, many readers obviously liked this book quite a bit, so if you like vampire stories, you might like this story too. And then there was Carwyn. I had chance to sleep on it and that's when I got so beyond fucking angry. I will be distracted from my family for days… Recommended. He was a mysterious, composed, charming, elegant gentleman who needed his space and his peace.
You suffer through something that makes it seem impossible for you to finish the book. Old libraries hold so much mystery and intrigue you will be inspired to sit and read or sit and enjoy the priceless history you are looking at. My Rating: 10 The best book I have read in a while! Beatrice used to call him Mr. Gio actually felt that he is too old for Beatrice and he can't help but know that eventually all mortal will grow old like his butler, Casper. He was trying to determine if it was Beatrice or the books I was reacting to. The lead characters were likable: the smart, spunky librarian, Beatrice was a good complement to the mysterious, standoffish Giovanni. He never expected a young librarian could hold the key to the search, nor could he have expected the danger she would attract.

The development of these characters was really nice. And all sorts of fun stuff. The book focused more on the mystery, but I still ate it up. Giovanni and Beatrice are witty, interesting, multifaceted, complex personalities that keep you rooting and feeling for them throughout the entire book. From shared whiskey samplers at pubs to private islands in Greece and the valleys of Chile, the plot is paced perfectly. I much preferred the character interaction to the mystery of the letters. Characters Beatrice was an interesting character.

Seriously, is this for real? The pace is spot-on and the story is simple and linear, the main strength of the book is the protagonists who, as their surnames suggest, have very different approaches to reality and to overcoming hurdles. Gio is a fire vampire and he needs to have great strength to control his element they are rare and end up extra crispy. Still, she was too stubborn, too passionate, never seeing things from others people's perspective. Barge and charge and consequently lose. There are no signs of insta-love and it evolves steadily. And even though my heart broke at times, because I knew what was going on with them, it all made sense to me, and I was ok with it. But I totally love the battle scene that took place where Beatrice was captured by Lorenzo.
The mystery, the intrigue, the connection between the characters just pulled me in. I found it so incredibly boring. I was actually expecting it to be yet another vamp story, all the lust, a lot of sex and the vamp politic. A native of Central California, she now lives in Southern California with her husband, son, and an assortment of dogs. He was trying to determine if it was Beatrice or the books I was reacting to. I didn't find anything, so I'm assuming this is not fan fiction for now. But the author is playing the age card here.
