I would suggest taking it to the dealer, but what is it that you think you will gain from the upgrade? You will lose all audio if an incorrect firmware update is applied to the car. You are required to before you can post. You must do this twice when the first update procedure removes the memory of the Bluetooth device. This is the procedure I did on my 06 A8. Thanks for the info and support. Looking at my software version it looks pretty old compared to the latest.

I don't think there is much chance of frying the bluetooth module. When you insert navigation disc it does not copy the map to your system. Do this at your own risk! I used it to go straight from 1190 to 4610.
I will buy a battery charger to maintain the battery at the weekend and try to do the updates. This will take up to 40 minutes. Hopefully I can order them from the dealers without them moaning. Warning: Do not use any electrical device while this process is running, so get comfortable first before you begin. If not I'll download again and burn another set.
